How to Fight a Pimple Coming On

I grew up having fairly good skin until I went away to college. That is when acne hit hard. In the time of your life when you are going to sorority functions and going on dates, it was so embarrassing. I couldn’t get a handle on it and would take trips to the dermatologist and was on oral medication and topical to help control it. It pretty much lasted ALL of college. I finally got a handle on it and prefer to be makeup-free after four years of covering up all my blemishes. People are always curious why I don’t wear makeup. This is why.

Once I moved to Paris, I became fascinated with French skincare and I have tried so many different products over the last 8 years. Caudalie, Sisley, and Avène are some of my favorite brands. No matter how hard I stick to a routine, there are always one or two pimples that come out fighting hard and stick around for a while. I recently had one on my face that almost stuck around long enough for me to give it a name! I tried Mighty Patches and they didn’t seem to do the trick. I used 6 of them and nothing was going to bring this sucker down. I reached out to Instagram and I had a variety of answers on how to help a pimple coming on.

What seems to work best for me is a combination of these three. I was surprised at how well the Mario Bedescu drying lotion worked. Read the bottle and don’t shake it. Use a Q-tip to get the pink solution from the bottom of the bottle. Use this to spot treat your pimple. It leaves a bright pink spot on your face so it is best to do it at night. I woke up with a clean and clear face 12 hours later. Some of the heavier pimples needed more than one application.

I also cleaned my face and used this purifying mask from Caudalie. I love using it right after the shower when my face is clean and the air in the bathroom is still steamy. I leave this one as a spot treatment or you can do it all over your face. You can use it a few times a week! A little goes a long way. Rinse off and tone and continue your day or night skincare routine as usual.

I am now filling my cabinet with a few of these items just in case. I hope this helps you too if you have issues with pimples/acne/or mascne.
