Mulled Apple Cider
For as long as I remember, my mom made hot apple cider with mulled spiced on the stovetop as soon as the weather turned. It was a way we welcomed in the cold weather and it made the house smell so good. We typically purchased these spices at Williams Sonoma but you can also do this at home with a few pantry staples.
Mulled Apple Cider
This was a November tradition around Thanksgiving but we would also carry in the tradition into December. No matter what holiday you celebrate, this is a great tradition to do in your own home. If you prefer, you can always add your preferred liqueur to the cider.
What you need:
One quart of cider from either the grocery or local farmer’s market.
Two-three cinnamon sticks
one teaspoon cloves
three-four anise
one orange cut into slices
I poured everything into my Le Creuset saucepan to let simmer.
Let simmer on the stove on low heat and let the fragrance of the spices fill your home. Just keep a watchful eye on the pot while the stovetop is on.
The smell will fill the kitchen and your home with a lovely fragrance.
Now that I shared a family tradition of my own. I would love to know something you do in your own home.
