Links I Love Week 32

Gold mirror and mantle

We have had a break from the heat this week in Chicago, and it has been nice to break out the jeans and light sweaters. I shot some fun fall content last week and started ordering a few items to update my wardrobe. This weekend, I plan on baking my blueberry muffins one last time before the end of the season. I have my eye on this corn pasta and tomatoes from this cookbook and stocked up on some fresh corn.

Last week, I shared the 50 best restaurants in Chicago. I challenged my husband to try a few new spots. We started with John’s Place, so good! Arrive early as they don’t take reservations. We plan to try MiddleBrow next for pizza. We are both habitual and love visiting the same favorite spots.

The Dermstore sale is here! Do not sleep on restocking your EltaMD. This is the sunscreen I wear for walks with Henri, patio meals, and extended time outdoors. My husband now is in the habit of putting it on because I place it right by the door. We have a few in the entryway drawer. He prefers and requested the tinted version. I buy multiple, so we always have one ready to go.

In other Chicago news, we got a new bookshop on Wells St., an independent bookshop next to La Fournette. It’s a great location; head down the stairs. It is dog-friendly, too! I think the EDP Book Club needs to do a meetup here.

One of my favorite sweaters from last fall is back! This one sold out fast, so don’t sleep on it. I have a size small, and you will wear it on repeat. Another stripe favorite that is back is this cropped Daisy sweater. I have reached for it so many times since it arrived, which is embarrassing. Chicago is cold until May, and it is so cute and comfy. Also, do not sleep on the Scott trench. This coat sells out quickly. It is one of my favorite new fall items, and I added it to my wardrobe.

Now that we have updated our back porch color, we need to change out our rug, which faded in the sun and is a similar color to the painted porch. This rug was affordable and on sale! Many of the rugs I found were shipping at the end of September and were pricey.

This week’s best sellers include my favorite Paris sweater, a flush mount light I can’t stop thinking about, and the Greta ballet flats.

I couldn’t resist this polka-dot dress from Madewell’s new arrivals. For a transitional fall item, it might have to be paired with a black leather jacket. I will report back once it arrives this week!

Cuyana just introduced a crimson version of their tote, and I love it! They also offer small leather accessories in the same color. I may just have to get some for my black tote.

  1. If you love pearls and want jewelry with a French twist, have you checked out French Kande? I have several pieces, purchased by my husband online as they’re hard to find in Canada. I love all the pieces, especially one with pearls. I think you’ll love the story of French Kande and how a creative California woman started the business after a trip to the Paris flea market. Check it out!
