What I Packed For Paris in September
What I Packed for Paris in September
I am officially back from Paris, where I spent the end of summer and the first days of fall. The weather was wild, with warm temperatures to start transitioning into cold and rain to end the trip. I had many requests for suggestions for packing for the rainy weather and if there was anything I wish I had packed instead. Here is a look at what I packed for Paris in September.

What I Packed for Paris in September
Pops of red were all around Paris as a trend, and I am so happy I packed these Greta ballet flats for Paris. They were comfortable walking miles around the city. Sunglasses and sunscreen are a daily must. Even on cloudy days, I used this Iris and Romeo sunscreen as a base for my makeup. Sunscreen reapplication is always a good idea, and I had a stick with me for days out in my bag.
This sweater vest was a favorite, and I paired it with denim for one of the sunny and warmer days in Paris. It can be paired with a t-shirt underneath. I saw this on a Parisian woman in blue at the end of my trip, and it looked so cute.
I lived in this Jack jacket and paired it with a few different pieces.
Skinny jeans are out, and wide-legged jeans are in. Straight jeans are a great option if you are unsure which style works best for you. I ordered these Frame jeans, and they arrived right before I left for Paris. From Madewell, I also love the Kickout Crop denim.
I carried this leather bag for dinners out. It also has a crossbody strap as an option. You can use the code REBECCA15 for 15% off.
My Luggage for Paris
I always use my Away luggage, including the larger carry-on, the everywhere bag ( this counts as my personal item and fits on top of my luggage) for my camera and laptop, a garment bag for dresses and blazers, and packing cubes. The packing cubes are great for keeping all of my essentials sorted. They come in various sizes, and you can pack a lot in each.
The Longchamp Weekender is perfect for additional purchases. It folds nicely, and I can keep it in my luggage if needed. This is very controversial, but I typically check this bag over my Away bag. Since I can roll my Away luggage easily, it holds 85-90% of my items. I don’t have to risk a lost bag at the end of the trip. Yes, I know it is softer and could get damaged in transit.
For out and about, I use the zippered tote from Cuyana with a small insert bag to keep everything organized. My life in Paris is a bit different as a photographer. I need to carry my camera. This wouldn’t necessarily be the case for you, and I would travel much lighter if I didn’t have my camera. A zippered pouch fits in my tote to hold my wallet, lip balm, and keys.
What I Packed for Paris in September vs What I Wore
The piece I wore the most out of what I packed was my Clyde trench from Sézane. We had a few warmer days at the beginning of the trip, but a jacket was much needed towards the end. Trenches are still the style trend, so many Parisian women wear them. It was easy to add an extra layer with the trench and throw it over a sweater or button-up.
When it comes to what I packed vs what I wore, it may surprise you that I wore just about everything in my luggage. There was one striped shirt I never got around to wearing. It would have been a great piece for the flight home, but I wore my Frank and Eileen comfort set and an additional sweater because I get cold on the plane.
Plus, what I wish I would have packed for Paris in September
Due to the rainy weather, I wish I had packed more sweaters. I had a few cardigans on my packing list, and they didn’t make the suitcase at the last minute due to space. I bought a thicker, comfy blue sweater at Sézane on the first day, and I am so happy I had it for the rainy, cold weather later in the trip. For my photo shoot, I knew I planned to shoot an outfit with Katie and wear my Blondo boots. But aside from the shoot, I didn’t wear them for the rest of the trip. Regarding shoes, I wish I had packed a pair of waterproof Chelsea boots and a few thicker socks.
I walked a good amount in Paris in my Vejas. They were super comfortable, and I didn’t mind them getting dirty or wet because they weren’t brand new. However, on my last day, as the city was super rainy, I ended up stepping in a puddle (or two). Walking around with one wet shoe wasn’t the most comfortable until I could return to the apartment.
There was a question about my Madewell hat. It didn’t arrive in time so it didn’t make my suitcase. Baseball hats are trending, especially with a trench and sneakers with a pulled-together look in Paris. I am returning in October and hope to bring it for my trip.
