Links I Love Week 36

Luxembourg Gardens in the Fall

We have some fall-like crisp air, and I am here for it in Chicago. It won’t last long, but it was nice to have for the weekend, a taste of what is to come. I have been writing and planning for this upcoming trip to Paris. Planning and research are two of my favorite parts of a trip. There are some new places I really can’t wait to check out that have been on my list for a while, and I am looking forward to returning to some of them.

Thank you to everyone who preordered a Paris calendar. I cannot wait to send them to you. The proofs have been approved, and my printer has a ship date of next week. I will work hard to fill preorders before leaving for Paris later this month.

I loved this story about an American woman who moved to Provence and now owns a cooking school there.

There are a lot of fun fashion pieces this week. I was an apparel merchandising major, and I spent a lot of time during college and post-college learning and studying major fashion brands and the fashion business. These are interesting to me, and I hope you enjoy them too!

Cuyana is one of my favorite brands for bags and leather goods. Their new arrivals are so good for fall. I have loved their system tote from the beginning, but my one fault was that it did not have a zipper. They are offering it with a zipper starting on September 10th.

Replace these 6 items in your kitchen ASAP and the frequency you should replace these items. You may not think about these as often as you do.

Ina Garten and the Age of Abundance. You can also listen to this New Yorker article. It is a long read.

I partnered with J.Crew this week with some of their new arrivals in September, including this dress. They are so good. I loved doing this shoot and being creative with their styles. This scarf is so versatile and ended up in my hair a few different ways and then finally tied around my waist. You can see how I styled it here. (you can see from my face how much I love the look) Yulia was amazing as usual, to work with as a photographer, and I cannot wait to share the photos once I have them.

Also, this dress is on sale and I am in love. I bought it in a size 6 before the partnership. It is a great fall transitional dress and I added a black belt and this jacket on top. So cute for fall! Flats or slingback heels work for it.

The black dress instantly became a best seller for the fit and price. More best sellers from the week are below.

A dreamy estate in the English countryside. I love the use of color and of course, the kitchen.

Tuckernuck did a fall denim edit, and I couldn’t have done it better myself. As we transition into new styles and silhouettes for fall, this breaks down the different options. I love the cuffed and off-white the most. What about you?

We are watching The Perfect Couple on Netflix. It is a good fast binge and escape.

For those in DC, check out this French Impressionist exhibition that is coming soon.

More people than ever are dining alone in restaurants. This is why.

Charms are one of the big trends of fall, and I love them. A reader sent me these keychains with charms, and I had to share them.

The post pandemic rush on travel has finally started to slow down

Here is how to kick the end of summer blues

I have been loving this texture spray and leave-in conditioner. I first purchased it from Credo, and my hairdresser Amanda started selling it at the salon and has used it on me.

Our back area is finally coming together. We are planting some late summer/fall flowers in boxes now. I have my eye on these chairs for a little Parisian backyard sanctuary in the city.

I have been raving about this Tuckernuck Chloe dress. I love the belt, and it comes in a ton of colors. I am wearing a medium. *gifted by the brand.

The J.Crew print catalog is back with Demi Moore. Thanks to my friend Lauren for sending this.

The Holiday Shop at Anthropologie is now open. I am here for it! They do a fantastic job with holiday decor and gift ideas. Plus, there are some pretty cute French-themed items. The holiday mugs are back, and these sell out every year.

My husband and I enjoyed a date night at Petit Pomeroy in the city. It was a fun French meal in a lively setting, and everything was delicious. Although it was a little loud on opening night, I can see it as an excellent spot for an EDP meetup in the future on a quieter evening or afternoon.

I used the date night as an excuse to dress for fall, as we have had some crisp nights lately. You can see what I wore here.

I have been eating cottage cheese daily with breakfast to get more protein. My husband, on the other hand, is in a Greek yogurt phase. This article shares what makes them different regarding a protein-healthy diet and which one is healthier.

Last weekend, I treated myself to a HydraFacial. I had gotten one before and loved it; it had just been a minute. With the season’s transition, I wanted to clear up dead skin and refresh before entering the colder months. You can read about the benefits of facial treatment. I also added dermaplaning, which I highly recommend. It didn’t hurt, and my skin was glowing!

Mom sends the perfect text to a friend who just had a baby. I love this! Even for someone who didn’t have a baby, suffered a loss, illness, or is currently grieving. Showing up is the most important way to offer support.

  1. Hi. I also live in Chicago and love reading your Sunday morning emails. I read your note about hydro facials. I am curious where you had the treatment done here in Chicago. I always like a recommendation.

    Thanks. Kim

    • Hi Kim,

I went to SpaDerma on Armitage and believe I saw Cathy. They have a few locations. This one is closest to me and works out well. I think if you mention me, we both get $50 off our next service.

There is also The Fitz on Wells that offers them.

Keep me posted if you go!

  2. I’m so looking forward to the National Gallery Impressionism show in DC!! Highly suggest to take a DC trip if you can. There are so many French inspired things around town. Also the city was designed by Pierre L’Enfant! It is a great place to “flaneur”, or sit and people watch, see beautiful art and architecture, enjoy performing arts, enjoy delicious food, and wonderful boutiques and farmers markets.

    • Hi Gloria,

I would love any additional recommendations for DC! I am headed there in November.

      Merci xo
