There are three times when I love to curl up and watch a good movie: flying (it is where I catch up on a lot of movies), home with my family over the holidays ( I look forward to this every year), and a rainy or snowy day. Pajamas, a warm cup of hot chocolate or tea, and a good movie is the perfect way to relax.

Do you have favorite movies you watch on repeat?

My favorites are:

“Under the Tuscan Sun” this movie grows with me. I saw it in the theater in 2003, and have been watching it ever since. The movie made me want to visit Positano which I have now, three times.

“The Holiday”

Why don’t they make more romantic movies like this? I own this one and watch it at least once or twice each holiday season.

“Sabrina”

I prefer the new one with Harrison Ford and Julia Ormond. I love Audrey Hepburn but in the modern remake, Sabrina is a photographer instead of a cook so I identify with it more. I watch this movie on the plane to Paris. I have seen it so many times and love it. The introduction of the first two minutes will get you hooked that you don’t want to move.

“The Notebook”

I can’t watch this without crying. This is such a sweet love story. I read the book years ago and I own the movie. It is one of the movies I always have to watch when I see it offered on the plane.

“A Good Year”

This movie takes place in the South of France and it has been reaching to book a plane ticket every time. The cinematography is great and the light in every shot is just incredible. I not only love watching this for the visuals but the story is so great.

“Dirty Dancing”

I remember first watching this movie as a little kid. I didn’t know the full story line as it was over my head. But the dancing got me hooked. I have watched this movie more times than I care to admit and I know every line. My sister told me, I had to include this one no matter how embarrassing it sounds.

“Beaches”

I can’t watch this movie without crying and I know what happens at the end. A story of true friendship. My sister and I used to watch this movie all the time as kids. Now when I am over at her house, we turn it on and curl up on the couch. I can’t wait to share this one with Emma when she is old enough.

“Sleepless in Seattle”

This was written in as a reader favorite. It is such a beautiful love story and I always have to watch it when I see it is on. Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan are such a good on screen pair.

“Notting Hill”

This was another reader favorite that was written in. If these two quotes don’t get you to watch “Notting Hill” than I don’t know what will.

Midnight in Paris

The first time I saw Midnight in Paris I was staying in Montpelier for the night on my way to the Nice. It was so out of character for myself to go to a movie alone but I really wanted to experience a movie in France and I had heard so much buzz about “Midnight in Paris.” It was being shown at the Cannes Film Festival but had not been released to the US. I loved every minute of it. I have watched it over and over many times since and my sister bought it for me as a present before I moved to Paris.
