Links I Love Week 40
It is a lovely weekend in Paris. I am happy to be here for work and spend time with my husband. We are staying in the Marais and have enjoyed discovering new restaurants, hotels, and wine bars. I can’t wait to update The Paris Guide before it goes to print later this month. You can sign up here to get on the list for launch. (hint… email subscribers get extra perks like discount codes and exclusive freebies.)

I had a solo walk along the Seine to watch the sunrise and first light of the morning, which was magical.

Bed bugs are the talk of the town this week in Paris. It is more on the minds of Americans than Parisians. So far so good from the two hotels I have stayed with this week.

I purchased this sunscreen for my face from Dermstore, which I have been using daily. While I love the Supergoop for short times in the sun, this one is my go-to for long-term exposure and reapplication. I will be wearing this on those 80-degree fall days.

For travel essentials, two have been stand-out MVPs of the trip. This universal charger was useful in England as I don’t have the specific adapter for London. I am working on my laptop with ease. Also, I have read that bed bugs don’t like the scent of lavender, and I had these antibacterial wipes with lavender scent handy, so I covered my luggage in them for the Eurostar. I will report back if it was a success, but it can’t hurt.

A couple of my friends who live in Paris have stopped using the metro during busy times for now bc they are so worried about the bed bug infestations. They also change their clothes as soon as they get home. They either throw their street clothes into the washing machine or seal in a plastic bag to take to the cleaners. And when they’re out, they said they and many of their friends also avoid cushioned / padded seating where bugs & their larvae can hide. Maybe it’s just them, but they seem to think it’s quite a health issue.
I look forward to your posts every Sunday. Church and Everyday Parisian. I am planning a trip to Paris in March. Though I’ve been several times and am fluent, I find your posts so informative! (Even at 62)
