Rebecca, your post about current styles in Paris got me thinking. I used to dress up even as I was wearing pants from my favorite designers: Jill Sander, Hermes, Armani are just a few.
Then one night about 7 or 8 years ago, we were at one of our favorite places for dinner that wasn’t inexpensive and I noticed that all the locals were wearing jeans while I was in my normal dressier stuff.
For the last few years in every season I have been wearing Joe’s jeans, but I still haven’t been wearing sneakers. I remember that women did dress up more. But now I wear jeans, a Moncler jacket and sneakers!
I would say that almost everyone is more casual and it’s harder to pick out any individual style statements. There was a time when Parisians wouldn’t be caught dead in sneakers, that they looked down on tourists who did.
It’s quite a change.
Great collection of interesting links, as always! I’ve bookmarked the Paris walks post for an upcoming work trip – I think it would be fun to try a few in the mornings before I have to sync with the work day back home.
Yes, that is a great idea. I love the early mornings in Paris. Enjoy your walks and time away from work. Stop for a coffee or pastry along the way and explore a new neighborhood.
