What Parisians Are Wearing Right Now: Spring 2026

What Parisians Are Wearing Right Now

The weather in Paris was perfect during my trip in April. While I typically have a rainy day or two in the forecast, this week was all sun. It made for great people-watching to see what Parisians were wearing as the weather transitioned from early spring to late spring. To create this post of what Parisians are wearing now, I do a lot of walking and observing. Some notes are taken on my phone, others are taken in my notebook over a meal or a cup of coffee and a croissant. You never know what you will discover in a day, so it is best to be quick, which means my iPhone was in my hand, or by chance, I had my camera. Both are equally good at capturing Parisian fashion.

I hope you will try it on your next visit to Paris. Parisians are always a great window into fashion and what is trending now, and what will be in fashion in the US in the coming year.

Brown is the New Black

Suede jackets were a trend I saw on Parisian women daily. This is an investment, but I don’t think it is going anywhere anytime soon. For a longer version, try this one. I have the Will from Sézane, a shorter coat version, and love it! Layer with a beautiful blouse and pair with flats or sneakers. I wore this in the fall, and now I can’t wait to wear it again this spring before it gets too warm.

The French It Girl Bag

I saw two bags on repeat. I was not expecting to see this barrel bag trend as much as I did. It was a popular bag in both black and brown. For a pop of color, I recently added this bag style in red.

For the evening, I didn’t get a good photo, but I kept seeing the smaller Neuf mini Polène bag out and about. This was the bag Parisian women wore for dinner out on weekends. It is super cute and relatively affordable compared to designer-name bags. I have the larger bag in the same shape and love it.

The Ballet Flat is Not Going Anywhere

My favorite outfit and look of the entire trip was this older woman while I was having lunch. She was dressed beautifully in a matching ensemble and flats. I watched her without trying to stare as she ordered just a tiramisu from the Italian spot I was having lunch at. She ordered just a few bites and asked for the check. I loved every moment of watching her.

Braids Are Back

One hair trend I noticed in Paris this spring was the return of braids. They aren’t just for kids. Perhaps it was Taylor Swift that made them do it, but I like the trend.

All Tied Up

I personally love this scarf trend. With my bangs, I am not sure if I could pull it off as much as this girl did. For all those ready to rock the headscarf this spring/summer, I am cheering you on.

My favorite pop or red was everywhere, from scarves, flats, and bags.

The Great Sock Debate

How do you feel about loafers with socks? Parisians wear them both ways. Either way, loafers were everywhere!

The One Thing Every Parisian Was Wearing (and I forgot to pack)

Blazers and jeans were hot. I typically pack a blazer, but in my attempt to fit everything into a carry-on, it just didn’t work. Of course, I immediately regretted it after seeing so many chic Parisian women wearing blazers and jeans. My closet is filled with a variety of items from Sézane and J.Crew mostly. There was no point in picking up another one in Paris, although I was tempted.

Parisians love a good paper book. I love how you will see Parisians enjoying a good book on the metro or in the gardens. It makes me want to pick up a book at a local bookstore and soak up the sunshine unplugged for a bit.

White Skirt Season

Maxi skirts are trending for spring/summer. I recently added this one from Paige, and once I eyed this outfit, I knew I had made a good decision. This was perfectly styled for the in-between weather of spring. Plus, I love the pop of red flats.

Tights, A Parisian Staple

Tights are a simple way to wear a skirt, dress, or even shorts when the weather just isn’t quite ready for bare legs. Parisian women often wear black tights in the spring and fall, and they do it well.

The Classics Are Back: Black Leather and Trench

Black leather jackets and trenches are the classics that are back for another season in Paris. A black leather jacket is a trend that has been around for years and isn’t going anywhere. While I packed my Claude jacket for Paris, I did see more tie-trench jackets this time, like my Scott trench from Sézane.

Can You Wear Sneakers in Paris?

Yes, you can wear sneakers in Paris. In the past few years, I’ve seen sneakers not just on weekends (for a more casual look) but also during the week. Sambas, Vejas, and New Balance mostly. Leave your workout sneakers for the gym or a run on the Seine. These will be a dead giveaway for a tourist. If you want to blend in, go for a classic white, brown, red, or leopard print.
