The Best Chocolate Almonds

This post is short and sweet. My favorite go-to sweet snack is a dark chocolate almond. It is the perfect balance of crunchy, sweet, and small. I stumbled upon the dark chocolate almonds at whole foods and it has been a favorite of mine ever since. I have tried many other dark chocolate almonds and nothing compares. I know so many people love Trader Joe’s dark chocolate almond but the chocolate to nut ratio is off. (in my opinion)

When lockdown happened last March, I made a beeline to the bulk section at my local Whole Foods to stock up. We really didn’t know how long we would be at home. I chose a large container and filled it to the top. As I stood in the LONG checkout line, I decided to go back for another container just in case. I am so glad I did because I ran out sometime in the Spring. When I first started going back into stores in the Summer, Whole Foods was sold out! It took a bit to find them again and once I did I stocked up. I now make sure this favorite of mine is always in the house. Sometimes it’s one and sometimes it’s two or three I grab from the container. It always satisfies my sweet tooth.

  1. You said the chocolate to nut ratio is wrong for Trader Joe’s almonds. Is it too much or too little chocolate in your opinion? Do the ones you are promoting have a thinner layer (which is what I’m looking for)?

    I tried Skinny Dipped chocolate covered almonds. I like the thin layer of chocolate but not the maple flavor and whatever they did to make the texture rough instead of smooth and shiny (too expensive too, less chocolate/more cost??). Who do I have to bribe to just get a basic, shiny/smooth, dark chocolate covered almond (or pecan, my favorite nut) without a ton of chocolate??? lol
