Links I Love Week 9

Links I Love Week 9

Chicago was expected to get a bad snowstorm on Friday that missed us completely. I don’t think we even saw a flurry. Good news for some of us, but Henri would have loved another day in the snow. My new kitchen cabinet arrives today, and I can’t wait. We stopped by Crate and Barrel again to see it in person and visualize it in the space. It will be great to have something new and fresh. My husband and I are slowly deciding to change the space and make it ours.

Sisley sent me the new Ecological Compound. I use this daily on my skin. I love the company because they strive to make the best formulas for its products. This is a new and improved formula based on the updated environmental changes. One is sold every 5 seconds! The truth is in the numbers and the product.

One of my favorite white button-downs from J.Crew is currently on sale for under $65

The last paragraph of this Samantha Brown article had me in tears. I watched her as a young girl, enjoyed her travel adventures, and wanted to be like her when I grew up. It’s great to see she is still thriving and traveling.

Sézane’s spring men’s line is here. I have bought my husband a few things from here, and he has repeatedly worn them. He has picked out a few items for spring, including this shirt and this shirt. If you want your boyfriend, husband, or partner to look more French for your upcoming trip, this is a great place to start shopping.

I got a shoutout in the Northshore newspaper, and I am honored. Thank you, Anne Foreman!

I ordered a few Boden swimsuits this week. This one is back in stock in limited sizes and sold out so quickly last time I had to grab it. I sized up to an 8 (I am usually a 6 in Boden)

Not a swimsuit, but the new Boden dresses are CUTE. I love the emerald-green color of this one.

I am late to the game, but thanks to reader Amy, I was reminded of the Calm app, which I hadn’t explored much until recently. It has been a game changer in helping me sleep. Stories I enjoy are the train ones and a rainy day in Paris. Also, I have been using the dog calm for Henri, and he has napped better, allowing me to sleep.

The best beaches to visit in France this summer

Clarins is up to 25% for Friends and Family. I bought this eye serum for the third time in Paris. I love it and use it a few times a week. Plus, I like the smell of it. I have also heard great things about this depuffing mask I couldn’t find in Paris at BHV. It may be a US exclusive.

Someone recently asked about the packing cubes from Away vs. why I chose the Calpak ones. I discovered the Calpak ones first and have been using them for years. It is just personal preference. I think packing cubes are a great addition to your suitcase and help me stay organized.

Midge is Out and About. The trailer and release date for Mrs. Maisel is here. Maybe the best birthday presents a girl could ask for.

I went out with my husband to see friends over the weekend, which was a reason to get dressed up. I noticed block heels are everywhere, and I am out of the loop. I love these for a lower heel, this option for a higher heel, and these for summer

I bought this front button dress in white and black from Madewell. I didn’t even wait for it to go on sale, which it will, probably as soon as it arrives. Add to your cart and wait for the sale. The style and fit attracted me, and I know I will wear these on repeat all summer.

  1. Rebecca – I also ADORE Samantha Brown. In 2008-2009 I took a sabbatical and lived alone on a friend’s yacht (fancy, right?!) that only left its slip ONE TIME, from the marina where it was docked. Doing so was MUCH tougher than I ever dreamed it would be on me, mentally. But also during that time, I had Travel Channel on practically 24/7 and Samantha took me with her to places I’d never thought about visiting. She’s 100% right — she was like a best friend taking me along to all those great places – silly as it sounds. Side – she and I are VERY close in age, and I have a 10 year old daughter now too. Who knew – time to re-up my PBS Passport!

  2. Rebecca,
Love your links today. CTs list of bakeries coincides nicely with Lebovitz.. Makes my mouth water. And the sites about food trends are great. We still love trad French dishes, but also enjoy new spots.
I was really disappointed with Le Select. Price points are high and the food is just ok, not spectacular. We have been to all of Rose’s places in Paris and New York. I have never thought they were that great. He just gets lots of PR. The problem in Paris was that his places always got more of us (Americans) than French. One time the couple next to us were so loud, we could barely hear each other. Not Rose’s fault, but he always got lots of press.
We haven’t tried Le Tour in Evanston, but now we will.
Also, on the local front, To Good Chicken at Jewel, of all places, is worth going there. It is Sam Kass’ startup. He used to be at Avec. He’s married to Alex Wagner, now at MSNBC.
At last, spring is coming! Paris must be on the cusp of blooming.🌷🌹.

    • Thank you, Patti! I am sorry you didn’t love Le Select. Le Tour is an excellent addition to Evanston. I always appreciate your feedback. xo
