Links I Love Week 44

Paris Seine Autumn

Before we dive into Links I Love, I have a few important topics to mention. I encourage you to VOTE this Tuesday in the upcoming election. I plan to head to the polls early in my neighborhood and vote.

I will send an email soon about shipping cutoffs for The Print Shop. If you look ahead to the calendar, we have a very short selling season for retailers. Thanksgiving is extremely late this year, and we only have a few weeks due to shipping times. It is important to get orders in as early as possible to ensure they arrive on time. As a small business owner, I appreciate your support so much. I encourage you to support other small businesses in your community and online this holiday season.

welcome to The Paris Diaries

This week, I launched a Substack called The Paris Diaries. I had been thinking about starting one for a while now, and it finally became clear when I was in Paris on my last trip. You can read all about it here! Plus, the paid version ($5/month) gives you access to new Paris discoveries, including where I ate, drank, and shopped. Anyone who has bought The Paris Guide in the past year gets free access for the next year as a bonus.

This is also a great way to support the blog! My goal is for it to be community-based for Francophiles. I have not loved social media lately and find this a better option. It would be great for other community members to be able to chat. Plus, I can’t wait to share more of my Paris adventures and behind-the-scenes projects with you all through this format.

When I return from Paris, one of the first things I do is edit photos from my trip. It feels like I am unwrapping a present every time. I had a lot of extra pressure, which I put on myself on this trip. The first test prints arrived, and I cried happy tears. I love seeing my vision come to life. You can see the behind-the-scenes video of the new work here.

Grab your coffee and croissants, and join me for links I love.

I ordered two magazines from Bake from Scratch this week. Their newest issue has an article about Christmas at The Ritz, which I can’t wait to read and see the photos in. I also bought their holiday cookie magazine, which I can’t wait to bring to my sister’s over Thanksgiving. Baking together is always a family tradition.

I can’t wait to read Stanley Tucci’s next book. His perfect pasta dish and a look at his daily life with this WSJ article I gifted.

Thanksgiving in Paris is one of the most American things you can do. This has now increased in popularity with families traveling to Paris during this long weekend. See where to celebrate in Paris. My friend Jane talks about her Thanksgiving in Paris experiences in her book, “The French Ingredient” a very fun read for this topic.

My favorite pants are back in stock for holiday. I wore these last year and cannot wait to style them again this year for parties. These shoes will be so fun with them! All about the silver for holiday.

On the hunt for something distracting to watch, we started “Shrinking,” and I loved the first couple of episodes. We also started watching “Disclaimer, which is disturbing and we may not finish.

  1. I love your blog! Would it be possible to post info re how the Parisian women style their hair & do their make-up please? I would love more information
    Merci

    • Hi Robin,

Yes, thank you for the feedback. There is an upcoming link on Sunday for lipstick and French women. I will keep that in mind as I do my trend reports and look for links.

  2. How is Henri feeling? Watch The Diplomat on Netflix season one was outstanding season two is available now, excellent show. We will most likely binge season two this week.
I hate my gray hair I was ill and let it go gray because I was exhausted from the rx (bels palsy) I truly regret it and now I’ve been told it will be a very long process to get it back to my natural color so I’ve turned to the purple shampoo. Surprisingly Clariol, some have a funky scent. Its the silver I dislike it really washes me out the “gray is fine”. So think carefully maybe play with a shade or two lighter.
Your Sunday posts are so wonderful, it’s Monday morning and I’m sitting in a comfy chair with a very big spaniel on my lap and it’s the best way to begin a tumultuous week. Here in AZ we can vote early, which we have done.
Have a lovely week, I’m going to sign up for your sub stack right now!

    • Thank you for asking about Henri. He is finally turning a corner. We have a vet appointment tomorrow. I felt it was a good distraction on election day to keep us busy. I am sorry to hear about your illness and I hope you are feeling better! I think gray or white hair can be beautiful. You will find the right shade 🙂

Enjoy your spaniel and get extra snuggles as we navigate this week. I hope you like the Substack! xo

  3. Regarding going gray: I had naturally brown hair, but dyed it blond for years as it fit me better.

My mom had the most beautiful silver hair, and as I started to get more and more gray, I asked my hair stylist to do highlights and low lights, but, start with 25% and as it grows out more, reduce the amount of color until it’s all gray. So, it’s gradual.

It worked for me, to start with blond hair. Maybe consider blond highlights and allow the gray to grow out?

I get so many compliments on my hair. The key? Use purple shampoo and conditioner to eliminate the brassiness.

  4. Hello,
Can you give a time frame as to when your printed Paris guide will available for purchase again.
    Thank you
