Paris in Black and White

Good News! The apartment is painted…finally it is a color palate or black, white, and gold. The walls weren’t awful before but now that this place is finally white it makes such a huge difference and I am happier in my own space. I still have a lot of things back in their places which I might be doing some rearranging and hopefully some purging. Once my body stops aching the bathroom and kitchen will get a fresh coat of white too.

When I decided to paint the place white I immediately knew I wanted a gallery wall. I have wanted to hang my own art for quite some time but I just haven’t because life gets busy… and it is so hard to choose what will go up on my walls. I have a catalog of thousands of Paris Photographs.

The wall behind the couch will be all black and whites with black frames. Simple but classic Paris. I have narrowed it down to the following. Let me know what you think. Also if anyone has gallery wall tips please comment below.

  1. They can definitely be different sizes….. The only photo of you would look good with the only white frame amongst the black frames…I look forward to seeing photo wall x

    • you are so sweet! Thank you Susan! That is a great idea to add one white frame. I hope you had a great weekend! xo

  2. You have a nice assortment of vertical and horizontal. And one of a bridge, that is almost square. Nice visual interest. I can’t wait to see it all on display.

    • Thank you Debbie! I love mixing the two orientations and I might throw in a square or two to mix it up! I can’t wait to share once it is finished.

I hope you had a great weekend!

  3. I think that the clock face & the staircase go well together. Did you use b/w film or a camera setting? Will you use different shaped frames, some large some small, round, oval etc? Will you choose wood frames ? will look forward to seeing the finished gallery wall. Good luck.

    • Hi Judith,

They were shot over the years so some are film but mostly digital. I will try to keep the frames consistant with white mats and black frames. It is still coming together but I can’t wait for it to be finished and I promise to share!

      Thank you!!

  4. Bonjour everyone,
I love the one with YOU with the lovely lady behind and that would be my focal point and work the other around it! I cannot wait for the reveal! Have fun and enjoy your cozy newly painted space!

    • Thank you! I think it would be fun to have one of me in the mix. I have a few other black and white favorites of me so I will have to see what I finally decide on. I can’t wait to share once it is finished!

  5. I agree with Jen…they are all beautiful! The Eiffel Tower through the oval window is my favourite though. Runner up is the Metro sign. Make sure you map out your frame placement on the floor first. Using paper (wrong side out leftover wrapping paper works well…tear off long sections and tape them together), place the frames until you get a configuration you like. Then hang the paper on the wall to get your nail/screw placement. Can’t wait to see it!!!

    • Kim,

Thank you! You make this sound so easy! Can you come and help me hang? How many pieces would be too many? Can they all be different sizes?

      You are the best!

      xo

    • Thank you! Yes, that is my favorite too. I am hoping to have it the focal point of the gallery wall.
