Last year I introduced The Paris Diaries which was a lot of fun letting you into my life here in Paris. I wrote every day and I am not sure if it was too much so I scaled back a bit. If you want to know more just tell me!

You may be wondering how am I doing with My Paris Agenda? Sleep is going okay. You may know by now that I am not the best sleeper. Since I am here for a month I really have cut down on the early morning wake-up calls. I am going to bed much later than I do at home mainly because I am playing catch up with the States when I am back at the apartment towards the end of the night with work and emails. I run a print shop through Etsy so I try to get back to customers quickly and place orders for my customers.

I have been drinking a lot of coffee and spending time at cafés. I really love the people watching and you can make friends easily if you are traveling solo. I have been getting requests for my favorite cafés in different neighborhoods. If you are interested in a specific neighborhood shoot me an email or comment below and I will try to add it to the list!

I LOVE my neighborhood. I am in Le Marais which I have stayed in before but a different part. This area is less touristy and there are so many great spots on every corner. I literally walk outside my door and have the choice of a few different boulangeries and cafés.

My hunt for the best croissant has been going well! I didn’t expect so many great croissants and so many not so great ones. After you have a good one you just don’t want to eat one that is mediocre. I hope my list will help you take the guesswork out while you are here.

I have done a lot of exploring by foot and manage to do on average about 10 miles per day. This helps with the croissant consumption! I am exploring with friends or by myself and I have loved seeing old places that bring back memories or new spots I have not seen yet. The city continues to surprise me!

I recently took the bus home with a friend who lives in my neighborhood. It was my first bus ride in Paris and as we passed the Seine I saw the sunset. I immediately nudged her and asked if we could get off to catch the sunset. She gave in and we enjoyed this amazing view. The wait for the bus home was longer than we anticipated and the bust was packed. But I think it was well worth it. If you have taken the bus I would love to know your favorite routes. I am open to taking it more soon!

Lastly, my peony budget is out the window already as the markets are filled with them. There are small peonies and larger ones. Spend the money on the larger ones. My small ones have yet to open from Thursday and the larger ones are fragrant and beautiful!

When I am not writing here I am taking notes on different content ideas for visiting/living in Paris so don’t worry there is a lot more to come long after I am home. I am enjoying every minute I promise. Thank you all for your sweet words and encouragement. I am so happy to have you along for the journey.

  1. Bonjour! I was inspired by Angelina chocolate chaud! I discovered it while hiding from school tour groups at Versailles. I prefer my chocolate dark and bitter, so I forgo the sugar and use either very dark chocolate, or a combo of unsweetened and dark, depending on mood and supplies.
I can’t wait to get back, to have ice cream at Berthillon, warm baguette and wonderful butter, steak frites, and sip wine on pretty patios.

  2. These photos are stunning! I stayed in the Marais for two weeks last spring and loved it. Living vicariously through your adventures!

    • Thank you!! Any new favorite spots you discovered in the Marais? I am always looking for new places.

  3. Your pictures are absolutely stunning. I love the colors. I can’t wait to explore the Marais this summer!

    • Thank you! You will have a full guide by then. I have loved living in this neighborhood over all of the places. It has everything you need!

  4. Just talking with my coworker who is planning her first trip in a couple weeks. She was asking me where to eat dinner. Do you have a post on that? I told her a couple places I tried but usually I have just stopped at a bistro and sometimes not always the best meal.

    • Hi Kelly!

I have a few places that I frequent but I think there are better experts in the food world than me. Have you seen Lindsey Tramuta’s book The New Paris? There are also a few links coming up in Sunday’s links I love with restaurants!

I will try to make a list but I won’t have it until later when I am home!

      • Thanks I will look out for links and any future recommendations. I love food but don’t know too much when visit Paris
I want to get Lindsey book I was hoping to go to LA for event but couldn’t

  5. Oh, you are my hero, how can you do that, do you workout every day at the gym? Sorry to make many questions, I am impressed, I just can walk 9 km per day with my 5D, a 50 mm lens and sneakers.

    • no it is okay! I don’t go to the gym in france my walking is enough but when I am in the states yes. Every day 🙂

    • yes! I wear my flats all day and I am good. My shoulders hurt a bit if I carry a few lenses with me. I had a massage yesterday at Pavillion de la Reine and it was much needed!

  6. Sounds like you’re having the best time! I’m always looking for great coffee stops, do you have any recommendations for St Germaine area?

    • They just put a boot café close to odeon which isn’t far from St Germain. or coutume is good too! I like cafe de flore for the ambiance more than the coffee.

Thank you! I really am enjoying my time here a lot. I don’t want to leave!!

  7. I love to read your Paris diary. It must be wonderful to spend a whole month in the city which I love so much. And I love the bag on the photo!

    • Thank you!! It has been a lot of fun. I feel like I am leaving so much out. I have a huge smile on my face all day long. I am so happy to be back!

The bag is a favorite of mine by Cuyana!! xo

  8. I am new to your blog and love it! I am a fellow Chicagoan (well, now a suburbanite), and I LOVE anything French as well. I studied abroad in Paris during the summer of 2008 and it was the best time of my life. I even had a position lined up to teach English in the French schools in Paris, but turned it down to do my masters at U of I. I always wonder what would have happened had I gone to Paris for another year instead, but it’s nice to be able to read and look at gorgeous pictures of people living one of my dreams!

    • Hello Claire!

You will have to come to a meetup in the city sometime. I would love to meet you. I hope you get the chance to live in Paris. There is still time. You have many chapters in life! Until then I hope you enjoy!

    • Thank you so much! I am so happy to have a few pictures of me as a memory in Paris. I wish you were here!! One of these days our schedules will match up in Paris.
