Spring Paris Trends

One of my favorite things to do in Paris is people watch. I could sit at a café for hours just watching the world go by and observing the behaviors and fashion of the Parisians. A few years back, I started making notes of what trends I saw in Paris and I picked up a few things while I was traveling. Here are my favorite trends for spring in Paris.

My theory is always if it is trendy in Paris then it will hit the US in a year. This always helps when I am making decisions on what to splurge on for the season. If it is a trend that is heavily worn all over Paris, I know that I should invest because it will be around for at least another season or two in the US.

When I visited Paris in March, I started making notes of what I saw in the stores for Spring. It was still way too cold to start thinking about dresses and sandals but it was fun to shop. I cannot wait for warmer weather and a little beach time this summer.

Polka Dots

This may be my favorite trend of Spring. Tops, bottoms, and dresses are covered with them.

I adore this wrap dress (another trend for spring) with polka dots. Under $100

Some other great polka dot options are this top here that just needs the perfect pair of white jeans for Summer.

Wrap Dresses

And Other Stories does this best and I really like their price point under $150. I was searching for a dress in March and tried on a bunch of these in the store. The weather was a little too cold for dress weather so I passed. You can shop all of these online no matter where you live in the world. If you want to splurge on a wrap dress my go to is always Sézane. Invest in one classic piece you can wear all Summer long.

Belted Dresses

This trend goes perfectly with my body type as I have a smaller waist and bigger hips. I can’t wait to embrace this trend all Spring/Summer long. I have my eye on this dress for Italy. It reminds me of the white dress in Under the Tuscan Sun. There is also another great option from Mango for only $60

My hunch is the Linen Blazer is going to be everywhere for Spring. I love it in white or a pop of color. This one is only $129 and you will wear it all season long.

Rattan Bags

We saw this trend last year but it is around for another year. Splurge on this one from Club Monaco or take this clutch for under $100.

High Waisted Jeans

high waisted jeans madewell

I have been wearing low-rise jeans for years now and it wasn’t until recently my friend Jess Keys suggested that I try high waisted jeans. She swears the higher the better. I am still figuring out how high I can go but they have been a fun addition to my wardrobe. I have a longer torso so the 10” high waisted jeans from Madewell don’t even cover my bellybutton. I have purchased two more pairs of the 9” high waisted jeans which feel a bit more me and a good compromise between the two. (For size reference, I wear a 27 and they don’t stretch out too much but they have a little give) It is only one inch but it makes a difference. Have you tried them yet?

I have been raving about my Madewell sneakers since I purchased them. I have tested them on the streets of Paris over miles and miles and highly recommend them. Size up a half size if you are worried about them being too tight. Feet will swell in the warmer months and especially after walking a lot. I also love these from Sézane for $130.

Hair Accessories

I have been a big fan of the hair scarf for a few seasons now and I am happy to see it stick around for another Season. This is a photo of me from Café de Flore earlier this year by Katie Donnelly. You can tie any scarf in your hair for a pop of color.

  1. Absolutely love the wrap dress for Italy, I have been wanting a similar thing if I ever go! I’m definitely thinking about getting the Mango one 🙂

    • Thank you! I love dress season. It has been a long winter in Chicago and I can’t wait to be in dresses all Summer long. Let me know how you like the Mango one 🙂

  2. Oh that white dress, one of my favorite styles. I may try to see how it fits. Plans sometime future for an Italy trip with my dad when able. Looking forward to your Italy post

  3. I just ordered several tops from your Loft link, including the strappy cami! I was just in Paris this weekend and wore the camel colored soft knit J. Crew cardigan you featured back in the fall. The one new trend I’m seeing that I am not fond of is the fanny pack worn across the torso. That will take getting used to!

    • Hi Terri,

Thank you so much for your support! I hope you love your Loft purchases. That J Crew Cardigan is the best and I wore it all Winter long. I am not a fan of the fanny packs 🙁 I hope that is a one season trend!

  4. I am all about wrap dresses! Several years ago I purchased them in 4 different colors from Banana Republic. This past weekend I got a cute one from J Crew. Paired with espadrilles, they always make me feel Parisian chic. That white dress is going to look amazing in you in Italy!

    • Trinity, isn’t it the best when you find a dress you love? I hope you have gotten great use out of those wrap dresses.

Thank you! I am excited to get back to Italy and I can’t wait to be there with my family.

  5. I have been in Paris all this month and have seen the following trends: round shape purses in all sizes and materials; especially in rattan. The color yellow in clothes and accessories; especially paired with blue. Camel colored rain coats and jackets. Espadrilles. Chain detail on jackets and purses; hello Stella McCarthy! The most popular designer bags are YSL and Channel.. Very little LV. Lots of Longchamp bags amount travelers and locals.
