Living the Paris Dream
Moving to Paris is a dream for a lot of people. It was one of mine and I made it happen back in 2013. Once you make it through the red tape of finding a long-term Visa, the apartment hunt is on. This can be an overwhelming project, especially if you aren’t in Paris. I have worked with Haven In a few times now and their service and attention to detail are above and beyond. A recommendation goes a long way, especially if you are making a big commitment like moving to France for a long period.
I was lucky enough to stay in The Voltaire apartment by Haven In on my last trip to Paris. The apartment is too big for one person but perfect for a family. There are three bedrooms, two have queen-sized beds and one has twin beds. There are two full bathrooms and one-half bathroom. You can leave one bedroom for guests as one of the bedrooms is on the opposite side of the apartment.
There are two bedrooms that are connected by a door which makes it easy for kids to share or keep the parents close by.
I chose to stay in the bedroom with the beautiful windows. Waking up to this view was so lovely each morning. The view is of the quiet courtyard.
One of the things I loved most about the apartment was the light. The morning light hit the kitchen so I always enjoyed it as I was making my morning coffee with the Nespresso machine. There are close coffee spots nearby, but I have more than one a day so this was a good place to start. (you can see on the map below other great coffee spots in the neighborhood)
You can grab croissants and baguettes at nearby Utopie. They have an amazing black baguette that is so delicious! Utopie also has one of the best croissants in Paris (my personal expert opinion) There is a Franprix across from Utopia so it is very convenient for groceries. I love picking up fresh squeezed orange juice here in the morning. There is also The Bastille Market close by where I picked up these pink roses.
The dining room is a great space for entertaining and it is large enough to host a few friends. The afternoon light hits this side of this side of the apartment which was is so beautiful to experience in person. The whole place illuminates in the afternoon. You can sit on the couch and read a book (there are plenty on the book shelf) or watch television.
The area is thriving and it is just tucked away from the center touristy side of Paris. Living in this apartment you will feel as you are living like a local. The metro is very convenient or you can walk to several parts of Paris. Ober Mamma is great for Italian and is close by as well as Du Pain et des Idées (another great spot for croissants) and Canal Saint-Martin. You can see on the map there are so many great options around the apartment.
If you aren’t in the market for a long-term lease in Paris, I highly recommend you forward this to a friend that might be looking. You never know, they might save an extra bedroom for guests with your name on it!
Haven In also offers short term rentals in Paris if you are looking for a place to stay for your next trip to Paris.
I know that France changed their visa application system at some point in the last ten years or so, but I would really love to know more about your experience obtaining a visa and any practical advice or resources for other Americans that want to move to France? I’m finding the process extremely confusing and intimidating.
That apartment deserves a WOW! however, you neglected to mention the Price. would like that information.
Thanks, Sharon
Hi Sharon,
Thank you! It was a lot of fun to stay in.
I am not sure how much the rental is per month for the long term rental. You can contact https://havenin.com/ and they can help with pricing details!
Merci,

We rented through One Apartments.
Love this post and the way you have captures the light and colour of the apartment. Our apartment last year was near Le Grand Rex and we often worked through the area you are describing.
Thank you, Mari! I am so happy you enjoyed the post and the light. Did you like staying over by Grand Rex? Who did you rent from?
