Where to Buy a Bûche de Noël in Chicago

la fournette bouche de noel

A bûche de noël is a traditional French dessert served after the main Christmas dinner as dessert. It is typically a sponge cake rolled to be the shape of a log. The dessert is covered in chocolate in a design to resemble the bark on a tree. A bûche de noël is the symbol of a burning yule log.

La Fournette

I am a regular at La Fournette and I love their croissants and breads. Luke and the whole family are always the nicest and greet me with a “Bonjour” every time I walk in. When I asked them about their Bûche de Noël they were kind enough to make one just for me way ahead of December. I ended up sharing it with the families at Ronald McDonald House on a recent volunteer night. The families loved it and it went very quickly. I didn’t get a chance to taste it but I heard all great things.

  1. Thanks for sharing this article. I ended up getting the Buche from Maison Parissene and it looked nothing like the image above. It was a mousse cake. So disappointed.

    • Hi Crhristel,

I am very sorry you were disappointed in the buche that you chose. This article was from a few years ago and hasn’t been updated. I don’t go out much due to covid restrictions so I wasn’t able to put together a current list.

      Happy Holidays,
      Rebecca
