5 Things to do This Weekend

It is officially the holiday weekend in Chicago and the kick-off of Summer. Due to Covid19, we are still on lockdown. It feels strange and so uncertain here we are more than 60 days later and I have no idea what the Summer or the rest of the year looks like. I had a Facetime call with my family this afternoon and they were doing the same thing as me, just hanging out at home. It feels to be the safest option right now even though it can be a bit frustrating. I put together a list of 5 things to do this weekend. I hope this sparks some creativity and breaks you out of routine a bit or perhaps inspires you to do something different.

Watch a Movie

If you saw yesterday’s round-up, I posted 10 Movies to Transport you to France. Perhaps you will find a new film that you haven’t heard of or one that you haven’t watched in a while. Popcorn is highly recommended. I have been making mine on the stovetop with my Le Creuset and a little bit of butter and truffle salt. yum! You can add wine or a cocktail if you are having a movie night.

Plant Something

I have never had much of a garden but I am eating a lot of greens lately as I cook at home and I really want to plant something. I bought this ladder planter from Wayfair this week which will be here at the beginning of June. I am going to plant herbs in there including basil so I can have pesto all the time. Does anyone have any garden tips?

Cook/Bake Something

I am planning on making another Dutch Oven Bread over the long weekend. Also, I really want to make a lemon tart for Monday. Try my quiche recipe or bake madeleines. I love adding fresh fruit to mine in the Summer.

Redecorate

I think it is safe to say that all this time at home made me want to change a few things. I have purged a bit and bought a few more home items for organizing the fridge and pantry and I added some photographs to the walls. West Elm, Pottery Barn, and Serena and Lily are all having great sales this weekend.

Take a Walk

The weather is finally warming up in Chicago so taking a walk seems like a great thing to do. We have had rain and cold weather for weeks. I love these shoes from Madewell they are my go-to sneakers. They are currently 50% at Nordstrom. I walk 10 miles a day in them when I am in Paris. They are great for neighborhood strolls with a mask and sunscreen of course!
