What Parisians Are Wearing This Fall: Shoes, Colors & 2026 Trends

My favorite post to write after a trip to Paris is the trend report. It started years ago, sitting at Parisian cafés and in the parks, and now my husband even joins in, noting his own style observations when he comes along. Café terraces, the metro, and the line for a croissant at the boulangerie were my favorite spots to soak up the 2026 trends, and this year my biggest observation was the shoes Parisians are wearing.
So what are Parisians wearing this fall? Sambas and loafers on every corner, chocolate brown replacing black (this was huge, and such a fun change), and a pop of red and burgundy. Here’s what I spotted, with inspiration from my favorite retailers to bring the trends into your own wardrobe. I always take these notes for my own closet, too, to see where I want to invest this season.

Adidas Sambas

My friend Shana said it best. Paris is the city of Sambas right now. Adidas is trending in Paris in a big way. While sneakers used to be seen as too casual, Parisians have really embraced them. I have seen sneakers go from a weekend-only trend to everyday footwear.

Loafers

There is always a debate: loafers with socks or no socks. Parisians will wear socks with loafers, especially in the cooler months like October and November. I’ve also spotted red socks as a fun way to incorporate the trending color.

Chocolate Brown Chelsea Boots

Chocolate brown Chelsea boots are a big shoe trend right now. In the past, you would typically see a chunky black Chelsea boot. With chocolate brown as the “it” color of the season, I saw this on repeat. It was a little too warm for Chelsea boots in September, but if I were heading to Paris this October or November, I would pack these without hesitation. You will be right on trend.
Tall Knee Boots

The boot trend continues with knee-high tall boots in both brown and black. In September, I spotted this trend and have seen it for multiple years in a row. Again, brown was a color I saw more often than before. In September, I saw this trend worn with short skirts, shorts, or dresses. Tights are the Parisian accessory for cold weather and boots.

Red Shoes

Red continues to be the pop of color on Parisians. From red Sambas to ballet flats, red shoes remain a trend Parisians are wearing right now. A red sweater and red shoes paired together is not out of the question; it is more the norm.
The Colors: Chocolate Brown, Navy, Burgundy, and Cream
The color palette of the season is chocolate brown, navy, burgundy, and cream. Mixed and matched or worn from head to toe. Loving it! Especially the burgundy and navy combo.

Corduroy

Corduroy is back, and I am loving this trend from pants to blazers. Spotted at Alexandra Golovanoff.
Stripes
Wear stripes on button-ups layered under a blazer or with high-waisted pants.

Black Tights, Always

Parisians have been wearing tights for years. This is nothing new. I loved seeing this trend continue for another year.

High-Neck Ruffle Blouses

High-neck ruffle blouses are a trend I spotted and loved. Perfect for layering under a blazer or sweater at the neck or wrists. I spotted them at Balzac Paris and Gerard Darel.

Fringe

Fringe was the one trend I didn’t expect to love so much. It is everywhere from bags, coats, and scarves.
Bags and Scarves Doing the Work

Parisians have always been about the scarves. Layers are huge when getting dressed and looking pulled together. Put a scarf with a texture or pop of color and change an outfit entirely.
The Gerard Darel 24H Bag

The bag I saw everywhere is the Gerard Darel 24H bag. This is a trend from the 90’s that is back in a big way. Younger and older Parisian women are carrying this bag in a variety of colors. I personally love the 12H version and is what I carried in Paris.

Oval Sunglasses

Oval sunglasses have been on repeat in Paris all year long. I really noticed this in spring and summer and the trend continued this September. With just a few minutes to shop, I popped into Jimmy Fairly in the Marais and picked up a pair.
Available at Jimmy Fairly ( a French version of Warby Parker) also availble at Warby Parker.
