Paris Meets Chicago: Brasserie Margeaux

brasserie margeaux chicago french restaurant

Welcome to the neighborhood Brasserie Margeaux. Michael Mina brings Classic French food to Chicago with his newest restaurant located in the Gold Coast of Chicago. Personally, I feel Chicago has been missing a French Brasserie and I am so happy this one is within walking distance from me. After last night’s delicious meal taste testing the menu I was more than happy to walk (in heels) back home with the nice Summer weather.

Warning: Get ready to be hungry! My favorites are scattered below but if you want to take notes:  the escargot, duck, steak, fries, I didn’t try the mussels but dipped my bread in the sauce and I would go back just for that. Don’t miss out on the dover sole and champagne is always a good idea.

The restaurant officially opened on Monday and is now taking reservations.

The warm camembert truffle baguette with truffle butter, garlic confit, and chive was incredible! we also had bread and butter for the table. The bread was hot out of the oven and so good to dip up the additional sauces on our plates.

Soupe à l’oignon gratinée with a truffle braised oxtail. I have a weakness for truffle anything. I didn’t get to taste this but will be back once the temperatures cool down.

My favorite main dish was the dover sole (not pictured) meurinère with white asparagus, brown butter, and lemon confit. Seriously out of this world! I would happily join anyone for this and a glass of champagne any day.

Dessert

My favorite part of the meal. I always go for the dessert with chocolate. There were so many good options. You can’t go wrong.

I didn’t get to try the cheese cart but I always leave something for next time. Cheese carts really are a thing and I am all about this one! All in the name of research right?! 😉

I was invited by Brasserie Margeaux but all opinoins are my own!
